Hello and welcome to my world. For those of you who do not know me yet, I am Christiane Von Linz, also known as Christiane Marler. I grew up among the green rolling hills of Austria, yet as long as I can remember I was fascinated with exotic cultures and harbored dreams of one day traveling the world. Born into a musical family and growing up with the rich heritage of Mozart and Beethoven, I studied piano, ballet, tap and jazz dance throughout high school while finding competitive figure skating success in Austria and beyond.
After high school and stints as figure skating coach, fashion model/dancer, and marketing executive, my older sister Elfi and I took a bizarre encounter as our cue to quit our successful lives and embark on an unusual journey. Along the way, serendipitous events propelled us adventurous siblings, now dubbing ourselves Evita & Christina, into singing fame across Africa, Asia, and Arabia, and into a deeper understanding of what ultimately connects us all and what really matters in life.
Following my international singing adventure, my figure skating achievements came in handy after settling in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates. I established the first ever figure skating school at the brand new Abu Dhabi Ice Rink, making ice-skating popular among the Arabs. Off the ice, I founded the Songbirds, an international children’s performance group, gaining broad popularity throughout the region. Pursuing my passion of music, I released the widely acclaimed music album Songs from the Emirates, a collection of original songs featured extensively on radio, television, and in print media of the United Arab Emirates and the Persian Gulf Region.
After joining my American sweetheart Bob in California in 1997, I completed my music degree at the California State University in Long Beach, California and established Aunties MusiClub, teaching various music programs in several Southland locations.
Urged by family and friends to write my compelling story, in spite of many commitments, I finally put pen to paper and completed my inspiring tale.
My writing has appeared in the Long Beach City College Literary Magazine, Verdad, and a travel essay was shortlisted at the San Francisco Writers Conference 2010 Publishing Contest. I love to share my travel stories on feistywanderlust.wordpress.com, a popular blog enjoying a worldwide following in more than 90 countries.
When not flying off to far-flung places, my husband Bob and I divide our time between New Mexico, California, and Austria. My upcoming memoir tells of the challenges, triumphs, and heartaches, while finding purpose and meaning during an uncharted, five-year journey.
I am currently working on a sequel to my travel tale.
